Man Utd and Arsenal 'send officials to watch Erling Haaland' ahead of January transfer window

Manchester United and Arsenal are among 11 clubs who have sent officials to Red Bull Salzburg to watch Erling Braut Haaland.

Striker Haaland, 19, has become one of the most sought after young talents in Europe after his heroics in the Champions League this season.

United have made the Norwegian their top target for January to boost their attacking troops - with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer previously working with him at Molde.

And to keep an extra eye on Haaland, the Red Devils and the Gunners have sent scouts to watch him in action.

But according to Norwegian newspaper VG, they are not the only ones to want to keep tabs on the teenager.

Barcelona , Real Madrid , Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus , Manchester City , Chelsea , Valencia and Sevilla have also shipped representatives to Austria, the report notes.

United were given a boost last week when claims that RB Leipzig, Salzburg's sister club, did not have a cut price clause to sign Haaland.

Red Bull Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund denied that a cut price £25.7million is on the table - which leaves United sitting at the front of the queue for the £75m rated star.

Freund told Kicker : "There is no such clause, that is not an issue for us.

"We would never own any club a right of advance to any player.

"That was not the case in the past and will not be the case in the future."

Haaland made history as Salzburg beat Genk last week, becoming the first teenager ever to score in five successive European Cup or Champions League fixtures.

Not that Haaland is bothered by having his name in the record books.

"It's a nice record to have, but I don't really care so much about the records," he said. "I just care about my team."
