Man Utd ambassador Park Ji-Sung expects club to make January transfers

Manchester United ambassador Park Ji-Sung believes the Red Devils will sign players in January.

Former fans' favourite Park - who played for United between 2005 and 2012, and as a teammate of current United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the first two of those years - was acting for United at Monday's Europa League last-32 draw in Nyon, where he was asked about the club's transfer plans.

United have been strongly linked with a move for the Red Bull Salzburg forward Erling Braut Haaland, who played under Solskjaer at Molde and has told his compatriot he is keen on the move.

And while Park didn't name names, he said he thinks new faces will be on the way.

When asked about United drawing Belgian side Club Brugge, he told BT Sport : "Still we have both possibilities, so we don't want to just focus on one competition. We have to follow both these two tracks as far as we can.

"It depends on the January transfers, it depends on what the manager wants and what the club can produce.

"There will be signings, but it doesn't matter how many we get, more important is how the team can progress."

United will head to Bruges for the first leg of their last-32 tie on February 20, with the return leg at Old Trafford a week later.

"There's not an easy team at this stage so we'll have to prepare well," Park said.

"These days, the team is doing so well, so hopefully we can get a good result.

"A couple of years ago we won the trophy and we know how beneficial it is, direct qualification to the Champions League.

"And this competition is not an easy competition and particularly young players can get experience going through.
