Man Utd agree Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan loan move, no option to buy

Alexis Sanchez is set to end his Manchester United misery by joining Inter Milan on loan.

Agreement has been reached in principle, which will see the Chile international join former United teammate Romelu Lukaku at the San Siro.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considers Sanchez surplus to requirements despite his departure leaving United without any senior cover in attack.

Sanchez has endured a miserable spell at Old Trafford since joining from Arsenal 19 months ago – scoring just three Premier League goals.

United will pay a portion of his salary – but it’s understood the move does not include an option to buy.

Solskjaer is intent on overhauling the squad he inherited – injecting it with young, hungry players.

Despite signing domestic talents Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James this summer, he has been frustrated in his attempts to offload a host of players who are not in his plans.

Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian are two who could go before transfer windows in Europe close on September 2.

But United’s refusal to cut their losses on out of favour players has so far blocked their departures.

Sanchez’ £450,000-a-week salary has been an obstacle for any potential suitor. But United’s determination to see a move go through has seen them take the decision to subsidise that figure.
