Man Utd add Lee O'Connor to squad vs Barcelona... but 18-year-old can't play

Manchester United have added academy graduate Lee O’Connor to their Champions League squad ahead of tonight’s meeting with Barcelona.

The 18-year-old full back is yet to feature in a senior match day squad, and is currently listed as suspended by Uefa after he was sent off in an U19s Uefa Youth League game against Midtjylland last month.

It is thought that the defender’s inclusion is because of a potential suspension nightmare for boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of the second leg in the Nou Camp next week.

The Norweigan has three first team full backs –Ashley Young, Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia – all one yellow card away from suspension. Uefa do not allow teams to make changes to their squad in between legs of a tie.

Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera are also one booking away from missing the return leg, while visitors Barcelona only have one player walking that particular tightrope, right back Nelson Semedo.
