Man Utd add 17-year-old wonderkid to their Europa League squad ahead of Real Sociedad tie

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has added 17-year-old wonderkid Shola Shoretire to his squad for the Europa League.

The Red Devils open their knockout stage campaign in the Europa League against Real Sociedad this week after being knocked out of the Champions League last year.

Ahead of the fixture in Spain, Solskjaer has made some additions to his 27 man squad, which includes four goalkeepers.

One of those is January signing Amad, who finally made the move from Atalanta after agreeing in switch last summer.

Another more surprise inclusion is young midfielder Shoretire, who has highly impressed for the U23’s side this season.

Despite still being 17, the England youth international has been an almost ever-present at the most senior level of age-capped football, putting United in with a chance of becoming PL2 champions.

Shoretire is yet to make his first team debut for United, but could be in with a chance of getting some minutes based on his manager's recent comments.

Solskjaer admitted that he is likely to change things up against Sociedad with a second leg to turn things around if the first try is not successful.

"You have to freshen things up when you play Thursday and then Sunday and it’s impossible in today’s circumstances to play the same 11 every game," he said.

"You could only do that if you were playing once a week. We will make decisions but there will be chances in Europe for other players and if it takes us the whole way, brilliant.

"If not then let’s look at it then because we have two legs, two bites at the cherry."

The match has been moved from the Reale Arena in San Sebastian to Juventus’ Allianz Stadium due to travel restrictions in Spain.
