Man urinates in garden on 'out of control' street

A man who was caught urinating in a front garden was chased away during a weekend of chaos and antisocial behaviour in parts of Liverpool.

Shocking footage caught on a doorbell camera shows a man calmly stroll into the front garden of a property in Langdale Road in The Dales area of Wavertree and begin to urinate into a water feature.

The resident in the house then spots what is going on and can be seen running out of his house and chasing the man down the street.

The incident happened at around 12.50am and police are working to locate the man, described as being in his early 20s, with short hair and wearing a puffer jacket.

This was just one of a number of antisocial behaviour incidents to occur in the same street over the course of the weekend.

Around 3am on Saturday (October 2), police received reports that three cars had been damaged by a man pushing a woman down Langdale Road in a shopping trolley.

It was reported the wing mirror of one vehicle was snapped off and two vehicles were scratched during the incident.

Officers attended the scene but could not locate the suspects.

This incident was also caught on the same doorbell camera by the resident who chased away the urinating man.

That resident, who asked to remain anonymous, spoke to the ECHO and said the antisocial behaviour in the area - which has a large student population - is now out of control.

He said: "We have had enough now, what is going on here is out of control.

"I would like to make clear that this is not all students living in the area, some of them are great and actually some have been helpful in highlighting what went on this weekend, sharing it in their social media groups.

"But this weekend just shows that the people living in these areas need help - and we're not getting it."

Speaking specifically about the incident in his front garden, he said: "I have the doorbell camera set up and I could see a group of them walking down the street, they seemed to be shouting back towards one of them, so I panned around and he was in my front garden.

"I could see he was urinating into my fountain, so I ran out and chased him up the road - they all disappeared into a house on the next street."

He added: "I was absolutely outraged, this is criminal damage as far as I am concerned and we want him to be punished."

The incidents are the latest in a long line reported in and around the Wavertree area, which many put down to the influx of student housing.

Inspector David Uren, who has policing responsibility for the area, said: “We know how distressing such unacceptable incidents of anti-social behaviour are for our community and we have stepped up high visibility patrols in the Wavertree area in response.

“Such behaviour will simply not be tolerated by Merseyside Police and we will work to find those responsible and bring them to justice.

“If you were in the Langdale Road area and saw anything suspicious in the early hours of this morning or over the weekend then please let us know.

“Whether you report information directly to us or through Crimestoppers, anonymously, all information will be acted upon to help keep our communities safe.”
