Man 'urinated on pub carpet' amid drunken Sunday scenes

A man urinated on a pub carpet during what police described as a "drunken rumpus".

Officers were called to a venue in Warrington on Sunday afternoon following reports of a disturbance.

They found a group of men refusing to leave the Church Street pub despite pleas from the landlady.

The Warrington neighbourhood team for Cheshire Police wrote on Twitter: "Overnight we filled 4 cells after a group of males attended a pub in the Church Street area and caused something of a drunken rumpus, allegedly verbally abusing staff and one male urinating on the pub carpet.

"It's not big, it's not clever - but is grounds for arrest."

A spokesperson for the force today confirmed: "At 3.10pm on Sunday, August 13 police were called to reports of a disturbance at a public house on Church Street, Warrington.

"Officers attended the scene and found that a number of people were refusing to leave the premises after being asked to leave by the landlady.
