Man United vs West Ham: Gary Neville slams Paul Pogba for 'embarrassing' handball penalty

Gary Neville slammed Paul Pogba for his "embarrassing" handball to concede a penalty during Manchester United's Premier League match against West Ham.

With the scores level at 0-0 late in the first half, Pogba instinctively raised his arms to block a goal-bound shot to prevent the ball hitting him in the head.

While referee Paul Tierney didn't initially spot the incident, the referee awarded a penalty following a VAR review which clearly showed Pogba handling the ball.

Michail Antonio duly stepped up to beat David de Gea from 12 yards, leaving United with a huge task to rescue their Champions League hopes in the second 45 minutes.

Former United captain Neville - working as a co-commentator for Sky Sports for the game - was not impressed with Pogba, saying: "He's in big, big trouble Paul Pogba.

"He's given away a penalty and pretended it's hit his head. It's rubbish from him. Embarrassing."

Neville added: "Forget the fact that it's an appalling lack of discipline from Paul Pogba, in terms of giving the penalty away.

"West Ham have been the better team for the last 15 minutes and Manchester United have been letting this game drift."
