Man United told to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Marcelo Bielsa - not Mauricio Pochettino

Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has claimed he would appoint Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa "every day of the week" over Mauricio Pochettino for the Manchester United job.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's position at Old Trafford has grown increasingly perilous with a midweek 2-0 home defeat to Burnley not helping his cause.

United sit fifth in the Premier League table, six points behind Chelsea, having lost a third of their league matches already this season.

A run of two wins in seven matches in all competition has led to further speculation that ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss Pochettino could take over at Old Trafford.

The Argentine was thought to be a target of United's prior to appointing Solskjaer and many feel they could be tempted to lure him to Old Trafford now that he is out of work.

However, Cascarino believes that the United hierarchy would be better served looking at Elland Road, if they were to replace Solskjaer.

“He’s the flavour of the month, Poch,” Cascarino said on talkSPORT.

“I’d have Bielsa over Poch every day of the week at Man United. Yeah, I would yeah.

“I think it’s unbelievable what he’s achieved at Leeds.”

Bielsa has Leeds United second in the Championship table after 28 matches, with promotion to the Premier League a very realistic achievement.

Of course, the relationship between the two clubs makes any deal incredibly unlikely, should Ed Woodward decide to part company with Solskjaer anyway.
