Man United to trump Liverpool in race for Leeds United target and Swansea City star Daniel James - reports

Manchester United are reportedly leading the way in the race for Swansea City forward Daniel James, but could yet face competition from Liverpool.

According to the Daily Mail , United and Liverpool are at the front of a clutch of Premier League clubs weighing up a move for the 21-year- old, who's emerged as one of Welsh football's brightest young talents.

The winger has been in superb form for Swansea too, but came very close to leaving for Leeds United in the dying hours of the January transfer window, only for the move to collapse at the 11th hour.

James was rested for the trip to Blackburn Rovers on the final day, with boss Graham Potter admitting he didn't know if James had played his final game for the club.

He said: "No-one can see into the future as with all of the players. It's football, it's part of the industry."

Reports claim that James is aware of United's interest, and that rivals for his signature have resigned themselves to the Welsh international moving to Old Trafford this summer.

It remains to be seen whether Leeds will rekindle their interest in light of any potential move from Man United or Liverpool, with Manchester City , and Everton also previously linked with a move.

James currently has one year left on his current deal, and there has not yet been a breakthrough on agreeing a new contract to keep him at the Liberty Stadium.
