Man United target Bruno Fernandes scores 14-minute hat-trick as Sporting Lisbon hit eight

Manchester United target Bruno Fernandes hit a 14-minute hat-trick and grabbed an assist as Sporting Lisbon thrashed Belenenses on Sunday.

The 24-year-old, who now has 31 goals in 50 games across all competitions this season, scored Sporting's fourth from the spot in the 70th minute before slotting in Luiz Phellype's cut-back five minutes later.

It was a returned favour from Phellype, who gathered Fernandes's fancy flick in the first period before firing low past home goalkeeper Muriel Becker, brother of Liverpool's Alisson Becker.

Fernandes then wrapped up his hat-trick in the 84th minute volleying in at the back stick to put Sporting 7-1 in front.

Idrissa Doumbia completed the rout in the in the final minute of normal time as Sporting became the second-highest scorers (70 goals) in the Primeira Liga behind leaders Benfica.

Free-scoring Fernandes is seen as a player who can add vital goals for United, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer faces a battle with Man City to secure his signing.

He and compatriot Joao Felix are two of Solskjaer's leading targets as the Norwegian looks to wrap up his business early in the summer in preparation for next season.
