Man United target Atletico Madrid ace, Arsenal's transfer battle - Latest Premier League rumours

The January transfer window is now open, with clubs planning their winter spending spree.

It's a notoriously difficult time to get things done, with clubs reluctant to sell players, but it can also prove a vital period.

Here we round up the latest transfer rumours from around the Premier League.

Premier League transfer round-up: Bruno Fernandes talks

Man United want Llorente

Manchester United are looking to sign a centre-midfielder on loan this month and Atletico Madrid man Marcos Llorente has emerged as a potential target.

The Spaniard joined Atletico from Real Madrid in the summer for £40m as a direct replacement for Rodri, who joined Manchester City.

The Manchester Evening News report that injuries to Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay have left United scouring the European market for a midfielder lacking game time, such as Llorente.

The 23-year-old has only started three of Atletico's 19 La Liga matches and has only managed 16 minutes in the league and Champions League over the last eight weeks.

Arsenal and Tottenham chase Djene

Arsenal and Tottenham are both trying to sign Getafe defender Djene Dakonam.

The 28-year-old has been a star performer for the La Liga club over the last two seasons.

The Sun claims that Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton and West Ham are all interested in signing the centre-back in the January transfer window.

Getafe value Djene at around £22m and Monaco are understood to have already made a bid, but their offer of £12.8m was dismissed.

West Ham chase Barkley

West Ham boss David Moyes is planning a loan bid to be reunited with Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley.

The pair worked together at Everton and the Scot is keen to bring the Englishman over to the London Stadium until the end of the season, according to The Mirror .

Barkley has started back-to-back matches for the first time in over two months for Chelsea, having fallen out of favour over the festive period.

Whilst Chelsea don't seem keen to loan out an important first-team player, the allure of regular football ahead of EURO2020 could prove decisive for Barkley.
