Man United target and £50m Wales star David Brooks edges closer to Bournemouth exit as replacement identified

Bournemouth seem resigned to losing Wales international David Brooks, according to reports.

The winger has been linked with both Leicester City and Manchester United this summer, with the Cherries reportedly valuing the player at around £50m.

The Foxes have seemingly cooled their interest in the 23-year old, but reports in the north-west suggest he remains on the radar at Old Trafford.

The outcome of United's pursuit of Jadon Sancho may well have an impact on the chances of making a move for the Welshman, but the Cherries are nevertheless clearly bracing themselves for a departure.

According to The Sun, the Championship outifit are keen on hijacking Reading's move for Atletico Madrid winger Rodrigo Riquelme, and believe he is the ideal replacement.

Brooks missed Bournemouth's 1-0 win over Norwich City at the weekend, with boss Jason Tindall confirming that the forward was left out amid fears he may have contracted Covid-19.

"I got a message from David Brooks late last night on my phone saying that he's got feverish symptoms," Tindall told the BBC after the game.

"The doctor went round to his house to check him and unfortunately he was unable to play. The doctor did test him (for Covid-19) and as of yet we haven't had the results back."

Despite the concern, reports form the south coast on Monday evening claim that the player's test has come back negative.
