Man United star Marcus Rashford gets honorary degree from University of Manchester

Marcus Rashford will become the youngest ever recipient of an honorary degree from The University of Manchester on Thursday.

The Manchester United forward has greatly contributed on the pitch at Old Trafford since his sensational emergence from the club's academy ranks.

But since the start of the pandemic, he's also worked tirelessly away from football for positive change.

The 23-year-old was awarded an MBE last year after campaigning for the government to allow children to claim free school meal vouchers during the coronavirus pandemic and his charity work has been recognised again by the University of Manchester.

Rashford will collect the honorary degree on Thursday and he'll become the youngest recipient of such an award at the university.

Rashford will also join Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton by receiving an honorary doctorate from Manchester University.

There was no room for Rashford in England's squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers this week, but that's because he's only just made his full return from a shoulder operation. Rashford returned to full training at Carrington last week.

The MEN understand Rashford scored on his return from injury in United's behind closed doors friendly against Blackburn on Wednesday.

United play Leicester at the King Power Stadium after the international break and Rashford will be in contention to feature.
