Man United star in midfield, unusual role for Rangers man: The Scotland team fans want v Israel

Fans want Lyndon Dykes to lead the line, Scott McTominay to start in midfield and Steve Clarke to go with a back four for tonight's massive Scotland play-off match.

The national team takes on Israel at Hampden later and supporters have been naming their preferred starting XI and formation for the massive fixture.

It's fair to say there are a few surprises in there, with four in defence rather than three and two wing-backs. Ryan Jack is also selected in an unusual position – on the right side of midfield. While Jack does play on the right of a midfield three for Rangers, and has experience at right-back, it would still represent a bit of a shock should he end up there.

However it seems fans want Clarke to pack the midfield, with Ryan Fraser on the left providing support for Dykes.

Clarke has some difficult decisions to make, not least due to the withdrawals of Stuart Armstrong, Ryan Christie, Kieran Tierney, Scott McKenna, Liam Palmer and Oliver Burke.

Supporters want him to go with David Marshall in goal and a back four of Stephen O'Donnell, Liam Cooper, Declan Gallagher and Andy Robertson.

In the Scotland midfield they opted for Jack, John McGinn, McTominay, Callum McGregor and Fraser, with Dykes up front on his own.

The results came from an article published on Glasgow Live yesterday.

The match gets underway at Hampden Park at 7.45pm.
