Ronaldo sits out Ballon d'Or ceremony

The prestigious Ballon d'Or award was won by Paris Saint-Germain' Lionel Messi on Monday night.

The Argentine winger won a record-extending seventh title, with Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo finishing in sixth.

Ronaldo's low placing was the first time he finished outside of the top three since 2010.

Rangnick has a £50m problem

Ralf Rangnick was named the interim United manager on Monday, with the German coach set to be in charge of the first-team for six months before moving on to a consultancy role for two years.

Rangnick will inherit a squad full of talent and world-class players across the pitch.

But there is one position where the 63-year-old may want to upgrade given how the role has developed over the past few years in modern football.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka cost United £50million from Crystal Palace in 2019 and while he may be one of the best full backs when it comes to 1 vs 1 defending, he leaves a lot to be desired for when going forward.

If the incoming boss wants to get close to the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool, he may need to dip into the transfer market and pick up a right back.

Rangnick doesn't get his guy

It's common for a new manager to bring in his own staff when he takes a a new job.

Rangnick is no different and had plans to bring Lars Kornetka to Old Trafford with him from Lokomotiv Moscow.

However, the Russian club have appointed Kornetka in Rangnick's old position.
