Man United's preparations for Leeds United friendly hit as staff member rushed to hospital in Australia

One of the members of the Manchester United backroom staff has been taken to hospital after falling ill overnight in Australia.

The Red Devils are gearing up to face Perth Glory on Saturday the first match of their pre-season tour Down Under, which comes ahead of Wednesday's clash against Leeds United.

But their preparations have been hit after an unnamed member of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's staff was taken to hospital, report our sister site, the Manchester Evening News.

The club hosted an open training session at the WACA on Thursday night before confirming the news.

"A member of our backroom staff was taken ill overnight and has been sent to hospital by our club doctor for further treatmentm" a club spokesman said.

"We request that medical confidentiality is respected."

The club have also confirmed the individual is not Solskjaer or any of his players.

After their matches against Perth and Leeds, the Red Devils head to Singapore and China, while Marcelo Bielsa's side, who fly out on Saturday, will visit Western Sydney Wanderers next weekend.
