Borussia Dortmund have dealt a huge blow to Manchester United's hopes of signing Jadon Sancho this summer.
The England attacker is a major target of Manchester United this summer but he has also been linked with Chelsea.
Frank Lampard's Blues have turned their attentions to signing Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen but will no doubt be keeping a keen eye on whether United can land Sancho.
Which means the latest update from Dortmund will come of interest at Stamford Bridge.
The Bundesliga side have named Sancho in their training squad for a camp in Switzerland this week.
It comes on the day of the deadline imposed by Dortmund for any deal to sell the 20-year-old to be agreed by.
Dortmund are keen to switch their attentions to preparation for next season and imposed an August 10 deadline in order to avoid any impact on their pre-season training plans.
They have now named Sancho, along with former Blues target Jude Bellingham, in their 31-man squad for the training camp in Bad Ragaz.
Dortmund and Manchester United have reached something of an impasse over Sancho.
The German club are said to be asking for around £100million for Sancho and it remains to be seen whether United can afford that amount after the coronavirus pandemic.
Officials at Old Trafford have suggested a more structured approach to the transfer but, with the amount of performance-related add-ons included in such a deal, Dortmund have turned that idea down.
Having been linked with Sancho themselves this summer, Chelsea's hierarchy will no doubt be watching on as an interested third party.
There has also been talk of Dortmund offering Sancho a new contract now the deadline has passed.
