Man United make transfer decisions which could reinvigorate Chelsea's Cristiano Ronaldo effort

With just under three weeks to go until the transfer window slams shut for business, Chelsea are set to be one of the busiest sides in what remains.

This isn't just incomings with the likes of Wesley Fofana, Frenkie de Jong and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang still hot on the agenda but also with outgoings with Timo Werner's RB Leipzig return expected to be followed up by various other Chelsea fringe players getting their moves away. Marcos Alonso could be the next to have his Barcelona transfer announced. But with all of this in mind, football.london rounds up all the latest transfer headlines on this Wednesday, August 10.

Cristiano Ronaldo deal could still be on if two conditions are met

It's still very apparent that despite the professionalism the 37-year-old is showing by not going on strike and being part of Erik ten Hag's squad for the early parts of 2022/23, Ronaldo still hopes to have his exit wishes granted.

football.london understands that despite Todd Boehly's eagerness to complete this Hollywood-type deal in the early knockings of this window, Thomas Tuchel himself was the one to put the brakes on these talks.

Now, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is prime target number one but it's uncertain yet whether Barcelona will give the 'green light' to the 33-year-old's sale with Memphis Depay heading for the exit doors amid strong Juventus rumours.

If Aubameyang was a no-go, it is understood that Chelsea could turn back to Ronaldo as a last-minute option. However, they will need United to source a replacement first. Initially, it looked as though Marko Arnautovic could be that but the Red Devils have pulled out of this one.

Instead, their focus is on Cody Gakpo and Alvaro Morata with the latest reports indicating that both could find themselves Old Trafford-bound very soon if deals can be agreed between clubs.

Kepa Arrizabalaga snub

Unless another club comes in for the Spaniard, he will not be granted his wish to leave as Napoli do a U-turn on their original stance.

The Naples-based side has targeted the world's most expensive goalkeeper on a cut-price deal as the former Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper demands more game time ahead of the World Cup this winter.

However, he's set to be disappointed as Napoli have completely backed off the deal now due to wage disputes. Instead, they are bound to sign a former Real Madrid goalkeeper as an alternative.

As per CBS Sports' Ben Jacobs: 'Fabian Ruiz to PSG is very close. It’s actually only the Keylor Navas component that’s holding up the transfer. Told lots of different structures being discussed (both separate deals and linked). But the expectation is Navas will end up at Napoli. This also means Kepa won’t join.'

Cesare Casadei plan

Chelsea are intent on signing the young Inter Milan star this summer as they continue their busy summer rebuild of youth talent for the future.

The likes of Gabriel Slonina, Carney Chukwuemeka, Eddie Beach, Omari Hutchinson and others have signed this summer under the new regime but there are a couple of more signings like this that could happen before the September 1 deadline.

The Evening Standard are reporting that Boehly is preparing a new charm offence on Inter with a new bid, knowing that £12m is the asking price that Internazionale will reluctantly have to accept in this situation.

On top of this, as football.london exclusively broke, Peterborough United defender Ronnie Edwards is also on the club's radar. Worryingly though, Nice are planning a hijack on Casadei so Chelsea may have to hurry up.

Fabrizio Romano tweeted: 'OGC Nice are interested in Cesare Casadei. Chelsea are still in talks with Inter but Nice are also in the race - buy back option is part of the conversations. Inter won’t accept €8/9m fee for Casadei, as two Chelsea bids have been turned down.'
