Man United make Harry Kane transfer decision as Erik Ten Hag eyes Tottenham transfer swoop

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has made Tottenham striker Harry Kane his prime striker transfer target ahead of next season. Our friends at Manchester Evening News has stated that Ten Hag is intent on signing Spurs' talisman as he approaches the final year of his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Kane's future at Spurs is uncertain again with the Lilywhites set to end a 15th successive season without any silverware. Manchester City had pushed to sign the England captain ahead of the 2021/22 season but now having signed Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, a move to the Etihad Stadium looks highly unlikely.

Old Trafford could be Kane's best option should he wish to leave Spurs this summer, with manager Antonio Conte seemingly set to leave the club at the end of the season once his contract expires. The 29-year-old broke Sir Jimmy Greaves' goal record at Tottenham earlier this season, but is continuing to chase down the Premier League all-time goalscoring record - currently held by Alan Shearer - which may see Kane prefer to stay in England rather than join German giants Bayern Munich.

Realistically, United are the only Premier League club Kane could join in the summer as they are likely to have qualified for the Champions League and their priority is to sign a high-quality centre forward. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has repeatedly succeeded in refusing to sell the club's most coveted players to domestic rivals and could be set to demand a figure well above the British transfer record of £106million.

Victor Osimhen had been mooted as a potential option for United this summer, but it looks as though Ten Hag wants to the Spurs star at Old Trafford next season. Tottenham look set for another fight to keep hold of their star striker but with Kane's contract set to expire in 2024, it represents their last chance to pocket a huge fee for the 29-year-old.
