Man United legend Gary Neville vows to quit Twitter after Liverpool claim title

Gary Neville looks set to quit Twitter for the foreseeable future after Liverpool claimed the Premier League title.

Shortly after Chelsea defeated Manchester City to hand the Reds their 19th league title, Neville appeared to go into hiding once more.

The Manchester United legend simply tweeted a waving emoji.

It resembles a similar move a year a go before the Reds won the Champions League by defeating Tottenham in Madrid.

“Afternoon all, I will be taking the summer off here. I know you will miss me. See you in August,” wrote Neville at the time, sensing a miserable evening.

Jamie Carraghervowed to find his Sky Sports colleague at the time and the broadcaster has now released a video of their Liverpool-affiliated cast of pundits setting out to find Neville.

Neville had joked earlier in the season he would set off to Papua New Guinea if Liverpool added the title to their recent success under Jurgen Klopp, with Carragher mocking his friend recently.

“He said he’s going to book a flight,” Carragher said. “He’s already got it sorted with Emma [his wife], the flights are nearly booked for Papua New Guinea at 9pm on Sunday night.”

Rio Ferdinand took a similar step, announcing a break from the social media platform while adding a couple of laughing emojis.

The BT Sport pundit wrote: “Be right back Twitter... See you in a couple weeks!”
