Man United legend Gary Neville makes honest Liverpool admission

Manchester United legend Gary Neville is full of praise for champions Liverpool and the 'fantastic managerial job' Jurgen Klopp has done at Anfield.

The Reds won the Premier League title with ease, striding to 99 points before bowing out with a final day win at Newcastle United on Sunday.

And while he has to grit his teeth as he watches on, former United defender Neville has nothing but positive words to describe Liverpool's achievements this season and last.

"They have won the league and they have deserved to win the league," he said on his Sky Sports podcast.

"They are the best team by a mile and they were fantastic last season.

"You have to accept that what Jurgen Klopp has done there is a fantastic managerial job. The players have followed him and the fans have followed him.

"How many points did they finish with, 99? It's an incredible points tally.

"To do what they did last season, chase Manchester City and get the points they did last season, was it 97?

"It's an amazing amount of points over two seasons."

Liverpool's win over Newcastle took them to a club-record points tally of 99, just one point shy of the Premier League points record of 100, set by Manchester City in 2018.

The Reds finished 18 points ahead of last season's league-winners City and 33 ahead of rivals United in third.
