Man United injury update: Lisandro Martinez, Rasmus Hojlund and Kobbie Mainoo latest news and return dates

Manchester United have a new injury worry after their win over Wolves.

Monday night’s game saw Lisandro Martinez depart at half-time with an ankle issue, adding to a fairly substantial injury list for this time of the season.

While United welcomed Anthony Martial back for the Premier League opener, new striker Rasmus Hojlund remains absent.

Youngsters Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo have been ruled out for a period following promising pre-season displays and Tyrell Malacia is another currently absent.

Here is your latest update of Man Utd injuries and return dates...

Lisandro Martinez

Martinez’s exit at half time of the win over Wolves appeared to be down to his earlier yellow card, however an injury was revealed post-match.

Quotes that have, unusually, been attributed to both Raphael Varane and Erik ten Hag detail an ankle issue suffered by the Argentine.

“A little problem on his ankle, tendon,” it is claimed. “We’ll see but I don’t think it’s a big deal. We’ll see how he is this week.”

Martinez is, therefore, a doubt to face Tottenham next weekend pending a further update from United.

Rasmus Hojlund

New signing Hojlund continues to train with his United teammates ahead of a potential debut in the coming weeks.

The 20-year-old was in the stands on Monday as he continues to work on a back injury that should see him return next month.

“We are not in a rush,” Ten Hag said ahead of the game. “We know without him we have also a strong team and the position is covered so we don’t rush in this.

“It is about that he is in the right level, the first fitness level and then we have to integrate him, training and bring him in for the games so we take our time. It is not about winning in this moment, it is about winning in the long term.”

Kobbie Mainoo

Teenage midfielder Mainoo will miss the opening weeks of the season due to an ankle injury suffered against Real Madrid in pre-season.

The club have not put a timeframe on his return beyond stating that he’ll miss the “first part” of the campaign.

Amad Diallo

Like Mainoo, Amad is out for the “first part” of the season following a knee injury on the pre-season tour of the USA.

The winger left the match against Arsenal on crutches and later admitted: “I feared the worst, nothing serious. Back soon.”

Tyrell Malacia

An unspecified injury carried over from last season has kept Malacia out of pre-season and the opening night against Wolves.

Ten Hag confirmed last week the Dutch defender’s issue “will take some time” to clear up.
