Man United injury latest ahead of Everton as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gives Sergio Romero update

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani is expected to be fit for Saturday's Premier League clash with Everton.

However, United centre-back Eric Bailly is an injury doubt for the match at Old Trafford (8pm), manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed.

Cavani came off at half-time in the Red Devils' 9-0 thrashing of Southampton in midweek due to an ankle injury.

But the Uruguayan, who has scored twice against Carlo Ancelotti' s men this season, has apparently shaken off the knock, telling United's official website that he was "feeling in good shape, fitness-wise".

Bailly, though, could miss the Everton game, having figured only once in the past five league fixtures as a result of "various fitness issues".

“Edinson should be available, yeah definitely,” said Solskjaer at his pre-match press conference. “He got a bad ankle knock there (against Southampton).

“Eric is a doubt but, apart from that, everyone is raring to go.”

United's only confirmed absentee due to injury is defender Phil Jones, who is still recovering from knee surgery.

Solskjaer also provided an update on one-time Everton transfer target Sergio Romero.

The goalkeeper has not featured for United this season but is back in training after returning from a trip home to his native Argentina.

“Sergio is working hard, training," Solskjaer added. "He’s in the group. Of course he lost a lot of training early on in the season.

“He joined us very late after having some time back home and over Christmas as well. He’s had some time back in Argentina with his family.

“He’s working with the keepers but, of course, with Dean (Henderson) and Lee (Grant) and David (De Gea), it’s more difficult to get into the match squad.”
