Man United great Andy Cole gives classy response to familiar Liverpool question

Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole has provided a classy response when asked if Liverpool deserve to be crowned Premier League champions.

The English top flight is currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, with no clear sign of when the campaign will resume.

Jurgen Klopp’s side currently hold a 25 point cushion over second placed Manchester City, and are two wins away from securing the league title that has eluded the Reds for 30 years.

The Premier League have reiterated their desire to finish the campaign when it is safe to do so, with the latest meeting due to take place on Friday to discuss a number of important issues, including how best to finish the season.

Cole proved himself to be a tough opponent during his days at Old Trafford, bagging 11 goals in 19 appearances against Liverpool.

Despite his past allegiances to the Reds’ old foes, Cole admits that Liverpool deserve to lift the Premier League trophy, and right to feel disappointed by the current suspension.

“I can’t be biased,” Cole told The Guardian. “If Manchester United were in this situation I would be bitterly disappointed.

“Liverpool have every right to be bitterly disappointed.

"They deserve to be called champions.”
