Man United grant Nottingham Forest their £20m transfer wish as deal 'agreed'

Nottingham Forest have reportedly "agreed" a season-long loan with Manchester United that will soon see goalkeeper Dean Henderson arrive at the City Ground.

The 25-year-old has been understood to be interested in joining the Reds in search of first team football next season. As backup to David de Gea at Old Trafford last season, Henderson made just three appearances in cup competitions and none in the Premier League.

Should a move to the City Ground be confirmed, the one-cap England international is expected to replace wantaway 'keeper Brice Samba between the posts. The 28-year-old wants to return to France, with Ligue 1 side Lens linked with offering him just that.

One key detail has been the inclusion of an option for Forest to buy Henderson from Man United at the end of this season should a loan spell prove successful. According to the Daily Mail, the Reds have got their way and will be able to make the move permanent for £20million next summer.

Henderson signing and potentially debuting at St James' Park on the opening day of the fast-approaching 2022/23 season would be an interesting one as Newcastle United were strongly linked with signing the player earlier this summer. Instead, fellow England international Nick Pope is set to arrive after a fee was agreed with recently relegated Burnley in the region of £12 million with potential add ons to follow.
