Man United get huge boost Ruben Amorim provides Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount updates ahead of Chelsea clash

Ruben Amorim has confirmed that two of the injured Manchester United players are in contention to return against Chelsea.

United welcome the Blues to Old Trafford on Saturday on the back of a 3-0 defeat in the Manchester derby last weekend, thus confirming their worst start to a league campaign in three decades.

Man Utd currently sit 14th in the Premier League table having taken just four points from a possible 12, with their only win coming in the last minute against newly-promoted Burnley before the international break.

However, Amorim has received some much needed positive news ahead of the Chelsea game with Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount set to return to the squad having been sidelined since the Burnley game.

That said, the clash in the capital comes too soon for Diogo Dalot, while Lisandro Martinez remains sidelined.

“Dalot is out, Mase and Cunha are in the squad,” confirmed the Man United boss when asked in the pre-match press conference if any of his injured players would be available to face Chelsea. “Licha is still out, that is it.”

Amorim did add that Martinez is nearing a return to action and pointed out how much his side have missed the Argentine central defender.

"It’s really important [that Martinez is nearing a return]. When you have that injury you recover a lot of times very fast and then there is a boring part where it looks like you don't go to the next step,” Amorim said.

“We miss Licha a lot. We miss the aggression in this moment, how aggressive he is on everything he does, we miss him.

“But he’s always there in every meeting, even in training, he stays there to watch the training. I think we need Licha in this team."
