Man United fans spot Marcus Rashford improvement after penalty inspires dream start vs Man City

Manchester United fans have lauded Marcus Rashford for his composure from the penalty spot after his penalty made it 1-0 in the Manchester derby.

Rashford's penalty midway through the first half — given via VAR after Bernardo Silva's foul on the United frontman — clinched a surprise lead for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

And although the England striker missed another good chance minutes after making it 1-0, after latching onto Fred's pass and curling just wide, he hit the bar with an excellent effort on 26 minutes — United fans' praise for him has flooded in on social media.

Solskjaer opted to bring Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial back from injury and straight into the first team for the Manchester derby, with Mason Greenwood and Ashley Young dropping to the bench.

The changes appeared to work, with Martial, Rashford and Daniel James dovetailing nicely on the counter-attack and Jesse Lingard linking with them, too. Martial's near post shot made it 2-0 on 28 minutes, with Rashford again involved.

Rashford might have had a hat-trick in the opening half hour, but that didn't stop United fans from praising his overall play as well as his penalty taking.
