Manchester United fans have jokingly compared Jesse Lingard to Lionel Messi after he scored in pre-season against QPR.
Although it was widely expected that Lingard would leave United this summer after his outstanding West Ham loan move across the second half of the season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed last week he would stay at and fight for his place in the starting XI.
That has left Lingard with the opportunity to impress the Norwegian across United's pre-season schedule and he certainly didn't take long to make an impact against QPR on Saturday afternoon when finding the back of the net within just a few minutes of kick-off.
Facundo Pellistri was involved in the build-up and perhaps unintentionally played a perfect ball through to Lingard who demonstrated his composure in the box before expertly slotting home into the bottom right corner to give United the lead.

Some fans have predicted Lingard will have a fantastic season while others jokingly compared him to Messi.
West Ham are still interested in signing Lingard, but their financial constraints suggest a deal might be unlikely this summer.
