Man United could be without trio for Nottingham Forest after Marcus Rashford statement

Manchester United could be without three players for their upcoming clash with Nottingham Forest.

The Reds are set to host Man United at the City Ground for the first time since 1999 in the Premier League on Sunday (4.30pm kick-off). Steve Cooper will be determined for his side to get an important result against the top four hopefuls as he looks to put an end to his side’s run of nine games without a win.

Before turning their attention to Forest , Man United are preparing to take on Sevilla in the first leg of their Europa League quarter final on Thursday. Manager Erik ten Hag has given an injury update on his squad, ruling a trio of players out for the game at Old Trafford, just a few days before their clash with Forest.

Defender Luke Shaw was substituted in the first half of Man United’s recent win over Brentford, while winger Alejandro Garnacho has been sidelined for a month with an ankle issue. Providing an injury update on the pair, the Man United boss said : "Both not available (against Sevilla) Definitely, the injury of Garnacho is more severe but I expect Luke Shaw back at a short notice.”

Expanding on Garnacho’s injury Ten Hag added: "It's a few games, so that's the statement. So I can't give more details of it because we don't know. We have to see how the injury develops."

This followed an earlier statement from the club confirming that Marcus Rashford will be “unavailable for a few games” after coming off with a muscle injury during his team’s win over Everton at the weekend. While the forward is expected to return before the end of the season, he is not expected to face Forest on Sunday.

"Of course it's a setback, he's (Rashford) disappointed about it but he's not totally broke because he knows he will return quickly, he is optimistic,” said Ten Hag. “He will start straight on with his recovery and his rehab, so that helps to get back soon."
