Man United confirm squad for Liverpool as Cristiano Ronaldo decision made and new signing travels

Manchester United have confirmed the squad they will take for the pre-season tour to the Far East where they will take on Liverpool.

The Reds face their Old Trafford rivals at the Rajamangala Stadium in Thailand on Tuesday. It will be Liverpool’s first pre-season match of the summer and the first chance for Jurgen Klopp to assess his squad.

Three new signings will be hoping to be in Klopp’s squad for the friendly that sees them take on both man united and Crystal Palace, with the latter being staged in Singapore. Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay will all be looking to make a good early impression.

For Man United, they have now named a 31-man squad that will be involved for the clash against Liverpool. New manager Erik ten Hag has included a mix of first-team and academy players.

Most notably, there is no Cristiano Ronaldo in the travelling party, with the club saying this is due to him being granted additional time off to deal with an ongoing family issue. Reports over the past week, though, have stated that the Portugal international has submitted a transfer request to leave Old Trafford.

A notable mention in the Man United squad is defender Tyrell Malacia. The full-back recently signed for Man United from Feyenoord, in a £12.9m deal.

Other players who are not involved, due to being released by Man United in the summer, include Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Edinson Cavani.
