Man United captain Harry Maguire has leadership trait axed from his FIFA 22 profile

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been handed a harsh downgrade on FIFA 22 following the game's latest update.

The latest FIFA 22 server update went live on all platforms on Thursday, December 9, 2021, with the update available to download for players on PC, PlayStation 5 (PS5), PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X now. In the majority of these FIFA 22 updates, EA Sports tend to upgrade and downgrade players based on their real-life form.

And in the latest FIFA 22 update, United captain Maguire has had the coveted 'Leadership' trait removed from his profile on the game, capping off a tumultuous few weeks for the former Leicester City man.

The 'Leadership' trait on FIFA 22 is only given to players who EA Sports think are real leaders in their teams, with the trait describing the player as some who can "Inspire the other players on your team to perform at their best."

Maguire was first given the trait back in FIFA 20, following his move from the Foxes to United and has had the trait on his profile ever since, until Thursday. This update follows a difficult few weeks for Maguire and United, in a period which has seen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lose his job after damaging defeats to the likes of Liverpool, Man City, Leicester City and Watford.

Still, it seems particularly harsh on Maguire that this trait has been removed. But that's not his only downgrade in this update, with his defensive awareness (83-81) and composure (85-83) also being reduced.

The other United players who have had their attributes changed in the latest update are Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Donny van de Beek and Diogo Dalot.

Reds full-back Wan-Bissaka has been given a big downgrade, with his crossing (73-71), ball control (75-74), reactions (82-80), aggression (78-77), positioning (70-69) and marking (78-77) all being reduced, which has also resulted in his overall rating dropping from 83 to 82 overall, with his potential also dropping from 86 to 85.

Dutch midfielder van de Beek's overall rating has also been reduced from 81 to 80 overall, with some of his attributes also being downgraded.

But Diogo Dalot has been upgraded, with the full-back's short passing (74-75), dribbling (78-79) and sliding tackle (70-72) all being upgraded.

What do you make of the latest FIFA 22 update? And, do you think Maguire's downgrade is harsh or deserved? Let us know in the comments!
