Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seemingly ruled Liverpool out of winning the Premier League title by claiming it's down to Manchester United and Leicester City to chase Manchester City.
The Reds endured another tough weekend as they were beaten 3-1 by Leicester City, leaving them 13 points behind the league leaders, City, having played a game extra.
Jurgen Klopp ruled his side out the title race following the defeat after a disastrous run of form that now sees Liverpool fighting for Champions League qualification.
Whilst that admission will surprise no Liverpool fan, Solskjaer has also taken it upon himself to apparently rule the Reds out of contention.
United themselves have only won two of their last seven Premier League games, having dropped points against Sheffield United and then West Brom at the weekend.
It leaves United level with Leicester on 46 points, seven behind City, again having played a game extra.
Asked how his side must respond after the draw against West Brom, Solskjaer said: "Let's build momentum, win games and put Manchester City under pressure.
"They’re in great form but we’re not going to give it away, of course.
"It looks like us and Leicester need to put up a fight."
"I said we shouldn’t be talked about (in the title race)," added Solskjaer.
"It’s a compliment for the boys we got into position we are now. We won’t let them [Manchester City] run away with it – we’re playing them soon.
"We’re not giving it away early – no we’re not."
Liverpool are back in action tomorrow night in the Champions League against RB Leipzig.
