Man United boss Erik ten Hag asked what Christian Eriksen's best position is after false 9 experiment

Erik ten Hag gave a coy response when asked about Christian Eriksen's best position at Manchester United.

Eriksen is preparing for a reunion with his old club Brentford on Sunday as the Reds travel to London for the late kick-off in the Premier League. United will be hoping to bounce back strongly after defeat last time out against Brighton.

During that match, Ten Hag looked to deploy the Danish international in the false nine role as United suffered a striker crisis with Anthony Martial injured and Cristiano Ronaldo not deemed fit enough to start. Eriksen has also played deeper in the midfield in the past and in the number ten role but Ten Hag was keen not to pigeon hole the 30-year-old in one position.

He explained to the media: "We as a team want to play dynamic so I don’t tell a player you are playing in a position that is really static. No, it is dynamic and he is a player who can play in several positions and that’s what we need. He’s important in building up because he can give a final pass or score a goal."

Speaking about Eriksen's return to the capital, Ten Hag added: "Of course it will be special, but he’s also used to it because he’s experienced and he did this before and in the end it’s about playing a game and he has to focus on the team result. And of course, in the team result, his performance has to be good. It’s important for us that he’s acting well and he will do."
