Man under curfew was jailed after sitting too long in a relative's garden

Sitting too long in a relative’s garden saw a Stonehouse man jailed for two months.

Brian Galloway was under a 7pm curfew and had stayed out later than he was allowed.

Galloway, 31, appeared from custody at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday and admitted breaching the curfew in Albert Drive, Larkhall, on Friday, June 19.

It had been imposed on the persistent offender only four days earlier.

The court heard police on patrol spotted Galloway in the garden with two other people.

The officers were aware that he was on bail with a curfew and he was arrested.

Defence agent Stephen McQuillan said Galloway had been helping out in the garden and had stayed on for a chat with the others.

Sheriff Alasdair MacFadyen told the accused: “I’m persuaded, given the nature of the offence and your record, custody is the only appropriate disposal.

“You’ll be jailed for 60 days, reduced from 90 day because of your guilty plea.”
