A man was knocked unconscious and had to be taken to hospital after being hit by a car.
Emergency services were called to reports of a man being hit by a car on Lodge Lane at the junction of Riston Street in Toxteth at 6.38pm on Friday, July 2.
Once police arrived at the scene at 6.42pm, they found a man unconscious with a head injury, after he was hit by a car that drove away from the incident. The driver stopped nearby and is speaking to officers.

The man came around shortly before the North West Ambulance Service arrived and they took him to the Liverpool Royal Hospital for observation.
His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
The road has been closed in both directions since police arrived at the scene so they can carry out investigative work.
The road is expected to be reopened by Merseyside Police within the next hour.
Travel site INTRIX said traffic is slow due to the closure.
