Man ‘tried to push female Pc over third-floor balcony’

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly trying to push a police officer over a third-floor balcony.

Two female officers had been called to reports of a 22-year-old man attacking family members at a block of flats in Carshalton, near Sutton.

As they tried to detain the man, it is claimed he repeatedly kicked one and grabbed the other in a stanglehold while trying to push her over the balcony.

The officers managed to activate their emergency alarms and reinforcements arrived to arrest the man.

Both officers were taken to hospital for checks.

A 52-year-old man was also arrested for allegedly obstructing police during the incident in Stanley Road at 8.46pm last night.
