Man tried to headbutt through glass door of partner's Coatbridge home

A MAN who climbed the drainpipe of his partner’s Coatbridge home before trying to headbutt his way through the balcony’s glass door has been tagged.

Barry Feeney tried to gain entry to the Cumbrae Crescent property on October 31.

The 25-year-old verbally abused his partner as he caused a scene.

At Airdrie Sheriff Court earlier this month, the procurator fiscal said: “They had been in a relationship for one year but had separated with one child together.

“At around 10.15pm she was in her living room and four kids were sleeping in the property. The accused climbed onto the first-floor balcony and tried to gain entry but the door was locked. He requested entry but was refused.

“Police were contacted and he began to headbutt the door before picking up a plastic chair and hitting it off the balcony floor. He became abusive and called the complainer an “a*******” before climbing down the drainpipe again.

“Police arrived, arrested him and took him to Coatbridge police office.”

Feeney’s solicitor, who handed Sheriff Pieri a letter written by the complainer, said: “She expects the relationship to continue. He didn’t want to put her through a trial for his unacceptable conduct.

“It’s fair to say he’s not covering himself in glory with his current community order and you’ll have reservations about another one. All is not lost and he’s done half of the hours. He’s never experienced custody.”

Sheriff Pieri admitted a restriction of liberty order “jumped out” at him, before adding: “I’ll tag you for two months, reduced from three due to your plea. You must remain in your address between the hours of 7pm to 7am every day.”
