Man tried to grab 11-year-old girl as she walked to school

Police are appealing for information after receiving reports of a man who approached a 11-year-old girl on her way to school.

It is reported he tried to pull the girl away by the hand.

She was approached while walking along Earl Street, known locally as 'the stony path' in Abersychan at around 7.50am on Monday, October 21.

Officers are investigating and are appealing for any information on the incident, near Pontypool.

The man is described as being white, in his 40s with curly dark hair poking out from his black hooded top, with white strings.

He was also wearing either dark grey or brown tracksuit bottoms with red trainers, black gloves and a black rucksack on his shoulders.

Residents said police had been knocking their doors appealing for information.

A spokesman for Gwent Police, said: "If you were in the area and witnessed anything, or if you saw anyone matching this description acting suspiciously in the area around the time, please call 101 quoting ref 1900388770 or you can send a direct message to our Facebook or Twitter social media pages.
