Man-trend: Desert boots

Desert boots are the footwear equivalent of Madonna; they never go away, they're under constant reinvention and they once starred opposite Warren Beatty in the 1990 film Dick Tracy. Ok, perhaps not the last one, but a shoe/popstar analogy only really works if the comparisons come in three.

They're a bit Mod, they're big in Jamaica and they were a big look for women in 2010.

Clark's Originals are obviously the unquestionable source of the classic desert boot, but to be honest seeing as everyone's doing them, you'd be hard pressed to trot down any high street without spotting some. Online retailer Swear (who recently hosted a short-lived pop-up store in Brick Lane) have a sale on at the moment and we're quite taken with the range of desert boot variation on offer.

The good thing about desert boots' current ubiquity is that you can purchase a rainbow of colours: Kurt Geiger are doing purple for £55 and royal blue for £39, Henry James have them in grey and we particularly like Clarks Originals in Ivory. Ben Sherman also have a good range (pictured above) all around the 60/70 quid mark.
