Man treated in hospital after suspected hit and run

A 36-year-old man has been treated in Canberra Hospital following a suspected fail-to-stop crash in the south of NSW on Thursday.

Emergency services were called to the Snowy Mountains Highway, near Old Dry Plains Road, Cooma, after reports an injured man had been located on the road at about 3.40am.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to Canberra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Initial inquiries have revealed the man was hit by a vehicle that failed to stop.

Police are appealing for dashcam footage as they continue to investigate and ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
