Man treated for serious injuries after car crashes into home in Salford

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a car crashed into a home in Salford today.

The incident happened in Lower Broughton at about 5.30am.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called shortly after 5.30am on Tuesday June 15th to a report of a collision between a car and an address on Perkins Avenue, Salford.

"The driver of the car is then understood to have self-inflicted a serious knife wound to the neck.

"Emergency services attended and the driver was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “At approximately 5.40am on Tuesday, 15th June, firefighters were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Perkins Avenue in Salford.

“Fire engines from Broughton, Salford and Leigh quickly attended the scene. The incident involved a vehicle which had collided with a house.

“Fire crews worked to make the scene safe, alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police and the North West Ambulance Service. One man was transferred to the care of colleagues from NWAS and conveyed to hospital.

“Firefighters were in attendance for approximately one hour.”
