Man treated by paramedics at scene of house fire in Bury

A man has been treated by paramedics after a fire broke out at a home in Bury.

Emergency services were called to reports of the blaze at a semi-detached property in Eastham Avenue at about 3.30pm today (Monday, May 3).

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the blaze involved the kitchen of the house.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels, ventilators and breaking in gear to tackle the flames.

A man was treated by paramedics at the scene, but was not taken to hospital.

Pictures from the scene showed several fire engines and an ambulance parked on the residential street, off Walmersley Road.

A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 3.30pm on Monday 3 May, firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a home on Eastham Avenue in Bury.

“Three fire engines from Heywood, Bury and Ramsbottom fire stations arrived quickly at the scene.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel, a positive pressure ventilation unit and breaking in gear to extinguish the fire, which involved the kitchen of a semi-detached property.

“A man was treated at the scene by firefighters and colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) but was not taken to hospital."
