A MAN has been flown to the John Hunter Hospital after a crash in the upper Hunter on Tuesday.
The Westpac rescue helicopter was called to a serious crash at Mount Thorley, outside Singleton, about 7.15am.
A spokesman for the service said they arrived to find a 22-year-old man with multple lower limb injuries.
It appeared his van left the road and hit a tree, the spokesman said, rapping him in the wreckage.
Paramedics and rescue services worked to free the man, who was stabilised with the help of the chopper's critical care medical team.
