A man has tragically died after a light aircraft crash in Gowran Cross area in Co Kilkenny.
The incident took place at around 9pm on Friday in the Gowran Cross area, around 6km outside of Kilkenny City.
The man was the occupant of the aircraft.
He is thought to have been going to a party.
Gardai have confirmed that the man passed away a few hours later.
The Air Accident Investigations Unit has sent a team including a pilot and engineer to the area, which is near to the village of Gowran.
They are examining both cene and the damaged aircraft to try and find out what caused the crash.
