A man has tragically died following a crash between a motorbike and a car in Co Mayo.
The collision happened along the N83 at Johnstown, Ballyhaunis shortly after 3.30pm on Wednesday.
The man on the motorcycle, in his 40s, was airlifted to Galway University Hospital where he was fighting for his life after the incident.
However, gardai have confirmed that the man has since passed away from the injuries he sustained in the crash.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle that occurred on the N83 at Johnstown, Ballyhaunis, on 15/07/2020 at approximately 3:35pm.
"A technical examination of the scene has been carried out and the road has re-opened.
"Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information, particularly any road users who may have dash-cam footage, to contact Gardaí in Claremorris on 094 937 2080 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111."
