Man tragically dies after accident while fixing his car in Kinnegad, Co Westmeath

A man has died after an accident which occurred while he was working on his car.

The tragic incident happened in Kinnegad, Co Westmeath at around 8pm last night.

It is understood that the man became stuck under the car for a while, before being rushed to Tullamore General Hospital.

He was later pronounced dead.

Gardai are now investigating the incident, but are treating it as a tragic accident.

A spokesman said: "Gardaí have been made aware of an incident that occurred at Correllstown, Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath at approximately 8pm last night, Friday 12th June.

"A male in his 20s suffered serious injuries while working on a car.

"He was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore where he was later pronounced dead.

"A file will be prepared for the local coroners office."
