Man touched schoolgirl from behind then ran off smiling

A 14-year-old girl walking home from school was approached by a man who touched the back of her leg.

The schoolgirl, who was walking along Marldon Avenue, Crosby heard the man from behind her as he reached out with his arm in an incident which left her extremely distressed,

Following the incident, the ECHO understands the man ran across the road looking at his phone smiling.

In an incident which happened on Wednesday, May 5 at 3:50pm, it is alleged the man tried to take a picture under the girl's skirt.

The suspicious behaviour was spotted by a group of lads passing by in a car who asked the girl if she was okay.

Merseyside Police confirmed that an investigation was underway following the incident.

Enquiries into the full circumstances of the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police.

Community inspector Duncan Swann said: “We would like to reassure the community that, thankfully, such incidents are rare and where they are reported we take them extremely seriously.

“While physically unharmed the victim was left distressed by this incident. If you have any information on this, or similar incidents in the area then please do come forward to help us with our enquiries, as information you hold could be vital in bringing the person responsible to justice.”
