Man to appear in court over firework attack at Dublin lockdown protest

A man is set to appear in court in connection to a firework attack on gardai at the anti-lockdown protest in Dublin.

The 30-year-old was arrested yesterday and detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at Irishtown Garda Station.

He will be appearing before the Dublin District Court - Criminal Courts of Justice this morning.

The clashes with gardai on Grafton Street on Saturday, organised through social media, saw 24 arrests and three officers treated for injuries suffered.

A garda spokesman said: "The man in his 30s arrested on Tuesday 02 March 2021 as part of this investigation is expected to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court - Criminal Courts of Justice No 3 this morning, Wednesday 03 March 2021 charged in connection with the case.

"The investigation is ongoing."
