A man in his 30s is due to appear in court of the death of Liam Edward O'Sullivan in Kilkenny.
The dad of-five was pronounced dead on Thursday night at St Luke’s Hospital after an incident.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí investigating the murder of a 46 year-old man on Castlecomer Road, Kilkenny in the early hours of Thursday morning, 6th February 2020 have charged a 33 year-old man in relation to the incident.
"The man, who was charged this morning, is due to appear before Kilkenny District Court at 12pm, this afternoon, 8th February 2020.
"Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to come forward.
"Gardaí are particularly appealing to anyone who was in the Castlecomer Road / Gas House Lane area between 3.30am and 5.30am on Thursday, 6th February 2020, including any road users who may have camera footage.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000."
